Aluminum honeycomb: Aluminum honeycomb is formed by stretching aluminum alloy foil. Its honeycomb edge length is commonly from 3 to 10 mm. It shows a lightweight and stable structure that can effectively save weight while keeping rigidity. It is particularly suitable for engineering applications requiring structural performance.

Paper honeycomb: Paper honeycomb is made by compressing moisture-resistant and flame-retardant kraft paper or flame-retardant paper. It offers relatively low cost and excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. It is popular in projects where structural strength is less critical, prioritizing cost-effectiveness and functionality.

Stainless steel honeycomb: This is formed from stainless steel foil, offering high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in corrosive environments, food aseptic workshops, and other locations requiring highly durable and hygienic standards.

Layer material

Aluminum plate: The aluminum plate is lightweight, easy to process, with a thickness of 0.8–2.0 mm. It is widely used in construction and aerospace fields.

Stainless steel: Its thickness is usually from 0.6 to 1.5 m. Its good corrosion resistance, easy cleaning, and high structural strength make it particularly suitable for clean rooms, food, and industrial buildings.

Adhesive

Honeycomb sandwich panels typically use high-performance structural adhesives, such as epoxy and polyurethane, to securely bond the panels to the honeycomb core.

The bonding strength generally requires less than 0.15 MPa to ensure that the panels do not separate or bulge in high-temperature, low-temperature, or humid environments, meeting your long-term engineering usage requirements.

Surface Treatment of Honeycomb Sandwich Panels

You can choose PVDF coating, anodizing, or spraying treatment, and so on,depending on the application environment. This could improve your panels’ weather resistance, corrosion resistance, and appearance consistency.

Powder coating: After the aluminum plate is pre-treated, it is electrostatically sprayed with powder coating and cured at 180–200℃ to form a film. It offers multiple color options, including matte and high-gloss finishes. At the same time, the coating has strong adhesion and good wear resistance, which is more suitable for indoor environments.

PVDF fluorocarbon coating: It uses a multi-layer fluorocarbon spraying system, which shows excellent weather resistance and chemical resistance. Thanks to its good acid and alkali resistance and pollution resistance, it is typically used for long-term outdoor applications.

Roughing: The panel surface is ground with sandpaper or a sanding machine to achieve a uniform texture. It features a strong  metallic finish for a more upscale appearance and offers a fingerprint-resistant finish.

Anodizing: The aluminum plate is placed in an electrolyte and electrically charged to form a dense oxide film, typically 5–20 μm thick. It has a strong metallic texture and a high surface stability, so it is a better choice for projects with high requirements for appearance consistency and durability.

Size

Surface Effect

If it is in an outdoor environment, prioritize fluorocarbon spray (PVDF) or anodized coatings with strong weather resistance. If it is corrosion environment scenarios, please select stainless steel with passivation treatment, aluminum alloy with fluorocarbon spray, and avoid choosing ordinary powder coating.
